Tips For Planning A Mountain Wedding Near A Lake

Posted on: 27 April 2017

If you have decided that you want to get married this summer next to your favorite mountain lake, then there are many issues that you need to take into consideration. Thankfully, many people have previously used this type of wedding venue and can offer great tips for planning a lake-side wedding, such as:

Tip: Consider How Higher Elevations Will Affect Your Guests

If the lake you want to get married at is located at a high elevation, then this is something that you need to think about. Often, people who are older or have chronic respiratory issues will have a hard time breathing when they are at a high altitude. Since the air is thinner as you move up in altitude, the problems become worse as the altitude climbs. Before planning your wedding in a spot that is high in altitude, first, speak with your guests about any potential medical complications they might have with the wedding venue

Tip: Consider the Ever-Changing Weather in the Mountains

While a lake-side wedding sounds like heaven if the weather cooperates, you really don't want your big day to turn into hell because of rain or a freak hail storm. Mountains have the ability to create their own weather patterns and microclimates. Because of this, the weather can and does change quickly. In the mountains, it can be clear and sunny one minute and hailing golf balls the next. You need to think about the weather and plan accordingly. This might mean that you choose to rent a tent for the event in case the weather turns on you or think about having a backup location.

Tip: Consider the Distance Your Guests will have to Travel and the Costs Associated

Since your wedding guests are not likely to live anywhere near your favorite mountain lake, it is important that you take the time to think about the distance your guests will need to travel. Also, some mountain roads are not appropriate for all types of cars, so it is essential that your guests who drive smaller cars can get there just as easily as those driving big trucks. Additionally, it is important that you consider the costs associated with your guests getting to your venue. While this may not seem like much of an issue for you, some of your guests may be struggling financially and asking them to travel for a destination wedding may mean that they cannot attend.
