Tip: Consider How Higher Elevations Will Affect Your Guests
If the lake you want to get married at is located at a high elevation, then this is something that you need to think about. Often, people who are older or have chronic respiratory issues will have a hard time breathing when they are at a high altitude. Since the air is thinner as you move up in altitude, the problems become worse as the altitude climbs. Before planning your wedding in a spot that is high in altitude, first, speak with your guests about any potential medical complications they might have with the wedding venue.

While a lake-side wedding sounds like heaven if the weather cooperates, you really don't want your big day to turn into hell because of rain or a freak hail storm. In the mountains, it can be clear and sunny one minute and hailing golf balls the next. You need to think about the weather and plan accordingly. Also, some mountain roads are not appropriate for all types of cars, so it is essential that your guests who drive smaller cars can get there just as easily as those driving big trucks. Additionally, it is important that you consider the costs associated with your guests getting to your venue. While this may not seem like much of an issue for you, some of your guests may be struggling financially and asking them to travel for a destination wedding may mean that they cannot attend.
